Phytochemical and pharmacological assessment of different mangrove plant species
For thousands of years, natural products specially plants have been used in traditional medicine. Medicinal plants are rich sources of bioactive compounds and thus have led to the discovery of important drugs by chemical investigations. Sundarbans, the largest mangrove forest in the world, is the habitat of a total 245 genera and 334 plant species. Unfortunately due to the threats of global warming, the clock is ticking for Sundarbans and the largest delta on this planet is set to be history in a not-so-distant future. For this, scientific exploration and standardization of potential crude drugs from Sundarbans are needed to revolutionize our drug sector and this is the primary concern of my current research.
